William J. "Bill" Marks Award

In a tradition established in 1987, the Academy has annually bestowed upon its most noteworthy members the

William J."Bill" Marks Award

The Marks Award honors a pharmacist member of the Academy who has distinguished himself or herself in service to the profession, the Academy, and both his or her community and family.

The process of selecting a recipient involves a member submitting a nomination followed by a screening process by the awards Committee (which consists of five (5) most recent Past Presidents) to be sure that all the criteria have been met. A secret ballot by the voting members of the Executive Committee concludes the process. A second ballot can become necessary.

Please review in your minds the Academy members who have made significant contributions over the years.

Note that posthumous nominations are considered separately from nominations for living persons.

Make the time to gather the information that you will need to make the nomination.

The tradition will only continue as long as worthy members are nominated for the honor.

Criteria For Nomination:

  1. The recipient must be an Academy member in good standing. Posthumous awards will be considered separately from Awards made to living members.
  2. Nominations can be made by any Academy member and must be received by the Academy Executive Secretary no later than the published deadline.
  3. The Awards Committee, consisting of five (5) most recent available Past Presidents, will consider all nominations and will recommend two (2) finalists to the Academy’s Executive Committee which will vote by ballot.
  4.  The Award, which consists of an engraved plaque, will be presented to the recipient during our Annual Officer Installation and Recognitions Dinner.
